Year 2 as the end of KS1

Year 2 consolidates Key Stage 1. Children typically work with numbers to 100, deepen place-value understanding, and practise addition and subtraction with clearer written methods.

Home practice works best when it revisits school topics rather than leaping into Upper Key Stage 2 content.

Addition and subtraction within 100

Partitioning into tens and ones, using number lines, and checking with an inverse operation are useful habits. Ask your child to talk through one calculation before moving on.
